Gardewine, together with our supply chain partners Arctic Gateway, Nunavut Sealink and Supply Inc. (NSSI), and Nunavik Eastern Arctic Shipping Inc. (NEAS), offers a one-stop solution for sealift service to your community. Gardewine coordinates, packages, and moves your freight from origin to final destination in the Kivalliq.
Gardewine Logistics is the primary coordinator of shipments moving from points across North America through the Port of Churchill to the Kivalliq region.
How It Works
Our team of logistics professionals handles every step:
We secure and forward a quotation of freight charges all the way to your final destination.
Once you accept and payment is received, we secure your shipment confirmation number.
We coordinate proper crating and packaging for every leg — road, rail, and sea — to meet NSSI and NEAS guidelines.
We follow your shipment through the entire process and keep you updated along the way.

Four companies with a long history of servicing the North work together to move freight to the growing communities of the Kivalliq region — coordinated, packaged, and tracked from origin to final destination through a single point of contact.

Churchill sits on the western shore of Hudson Bay, directly south of the Kivalliq communities of Arviat, Whale Cove, Rankin Inlet, Chesterfield Inlet, Baker Lake, and Coral Harbour. It is the closest deep-water port to the region, connected by rail to the national transportation network. For freight originating in western Canada, the Churchill corridor is the shortest path to the Kivalliq — a shorter inland move to a closer port.
No items too big or too small. Sealift is how the Kivalliq builds and resupplies.
Oversized and overweight pieces move on Gardewine Deck division equipment — freight that doesn’t fit a standard trailer is a specialty, not an exception.
Sealift is the seasonal movement of freight by ship to northern communities that have no year-round road or rail access. Cargo is consolidated and moved by road and rail to a port, then carried by sea during the ice-free season. For the Kivalliq, that port is Churchill.
Gardewine Logistics coordinates the full move and secures your shipment confirmation number once acceptance and payment are in place. Marine sailing dates are set by the carriers — confirm them on the NEAS and NSSI schedules above.
The Hudson Bay shipping season runs through the ice-free summer and early fall. Booking deadlines fall well ahead of sailing dates — contact us early in the year to plan.
