Swan River Washout – Update #2
Notice to Our Valued General Freight and Deck Customers:
Significant rainfall in Western Manitoba has resulted in a number of points along Manitoba Provincial Highways 10 and 83, any many others, being closed due to impassable water or physical washout. This disruption will force traffic to an alternative route up Provincial Highway 6 and across to Highway 10 using Highway 60.
This temporary diversion will add transit time due to extra distance travelled and congestion, and result in additional cost to move shipments between Winnipeg and Swan River (and surrounding communities). There are likely to be delays for quite some time, we encourage you to continue to visit our website for updates on any additional road closures as a result of this unfolding situation.
Accordingly, during this time all general LTL shipments that are diverted via this route, which will add 204 kilometers (one-way), will be subject to a temporary Swan River Washout (SRW) surcharge of 5.08/CWT with a minimum charge of $25.40 per shipment, to a maximum of $1015.00 per shipment. All LTL flat deck shipments will see the same maximum surcharge of $1015.00 and that surcharge will be pro-rated based on the rated linear footage of the LTL shipment. A minimum surcharge of $74.67 per shipment will apply to all flat deck shipments.
In addition, Gardewine asks that all customers temporarily hold shipments for the following points until further notice as they will not move to destination:
- Minitonas
- Cowan
- Pine River
- Benito
