Gardewine Group Adds Western Canada’s First Freightliner eCascadia to Fleet in Quest Towards Sustainable Transportation
June 19, 2023
Gardewine is thrilled to announce a ground-breaking milestone in its commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.
In late May, Gardewine added Western Canada’s first electric highway tractor, the Freightliner eCascadia, to its growing fleet of electric and hybrid vehicles.
The Freightliner eCascadia utilizes innovative electric technology to yield zero emissions. The advanced electric technology is not just an investment in a greener future but also makes Gardewine an industry pioneer in Canada’s trucking industry when it comes to the deployment of electric and hybrid vehicles.
When looking at the combined effect of Gardewine’s recently added electric and hybrid vehicles, the below summary outlines the quantitative reduction of carbon emissions:
- 35,000 kg reduction of CO2 annually in greenhouse gases using our electric yard truck (1L Diesel = 2.68 kg of CO2)
- Each of our new Ford eTransit delivery vans displaces 1200 kg each month (1L Unleaded fuel = 2.3 kg of CO2 per van/per month)
- Gardewine has replaced 35 propane-powered forklifts with electric forklifts, resulting in an annual reduction of 650 tonnes of CO2 per year
- 25% fuel reduction using our hybrid vans
- Implementation of our newest EV, the Freightliner eCascadia, will displace an estimated 70 tonnes of CO2 annually
As Gardewine’s fleet of electric and hybrid vehicles continues to expand, we hope that this provides our clients peace of mind in knowing that they too are contributing to a greener future by utilizing Gardewine as their transportation services provider.
